Are you planning your next trip?
Go to Copenhagen!
Last weekend, we decided to visit Copenhagen as it is perfect place for 3 days trip. We organized the trip and took flight early on Friday morning so we had actually 3 full days to explore this amazing city.
After we left our luggage at the Copenhagen Central station (there are many lockers for different price and time, we chose the basic one for 24h, the price was 70 DKK – approx 9 EUR), we headed to the city center.
We made stop at Mad & Kaffe which is famous for amazing brunch. It was definitely true so if you have a chance to go there, I totally recommend it!
After amazing food, we headed to see the one of the most famous tourist attractions – The Little Mermaid. The sculpture is made of bronze and granite and is definitely in the section ´MUST see´.
After you take the obligatory picture with the Little Mermaid, you continue to Gefion Fountain and St Alban’s Church, which are next to each other and both places are interesting to see.
When you keep walking further, you will pass Art Gallery and the Statue of David in front.
After you pass the Amalie gardens, you will get to the Christian IX’s Palace which is used by The Queen and the Prince as their winter residence. When The Queen is in residence at Christian IX’s Palace, the Royal Life Guard is established and you can experience a changing of the guard every day. I made a short video where you can see one of the guard changes.
After you experience a changing of the guard, keep walking until you get to the famous Nyhavn. Nyhavn is great place especially in the summer as its full of bars, cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy nice lunch or couple of drinks. This waterfront street has a great vibe and I would add it to the section ´MUST see`.
Passing Nyhavn you enter the main shopping area so if you like shopping, this will be your favorite place:)
We walk through the shopping area and headed to the Round Tower which has 360 view over the city. It was built as astronomical observatory and it is 36 meters tall. To get to the top, you have to walk up the spiral walk for about 10 min. The walk is worth the view!
There was time for break and we had to try the traditional Danish Hot Dog at the street vendor. There are many different toppings such as ketchup, mustard, roasted and raw onions and bread. We voted for the classic one with bread and mustard, delicious!
In the afternoon and after the delicious hot dog + beer, we decided to go to the famous Freetown Christiania. Christiania is free and alternative neighborhood with music venues, bars, art galleries and workshops. Its opened to public and its definitely interesting place to visit.
It was getting darker, so we headed to our accommodation to relax a bit and decide where we will go for dinner. Our choice was close to our rented apartment – The Mother. Italian restaurant with wood-fired pizza and delicious pasta. We opted in for pizza with Prosciutto and it was great!
We finished the Day 1 with nice Aperol Spritz Cocktail 👌😉
The next day, we decided to head up north and visit Kronborg Castle in Helsingør. Amazing experience and definitely ´MUST see´.
Kronborg Castle is well-known for Shakespeare’s Hamlet and its perfect place for one day visit. They offer free tours almost every hour when you buy the entrance ticket.
After you visit the Castle from inside, you can walk around and go for a short walk on the beach.
Next stop Sweden!
The Oresund bridge connect Sweden and Denmark and is approximately 16km long road. We went by train and I attach video here.
When we got back to Copenhagen, it was dinner time and this time we opted in for Organic Bob Bistro. We also recommend this place as we really like the Catch of the Day (Hake with vegetables) and Beef Burger.
As it was our last day, we decided to stay in Copenhagen and explore the rest of the city.
We headed towards the TorvehallerneKBH – Famous Food market in Copenhagen, to have our breakfast. There are many varieties of pastries, cafes and sandwiches.
If your passion is food (like ours), its ´MUST see´ for sure.
With full stomach, we continued to the Botanical garden. There is beautiful park with amazing flowers so enjoy the walk around the lake inside of garden.
Next to the Botanical Garden is placed Rosenburg Castle, which was originally built as a country summerhouse. Its surrounded by huge garden so I recommend to go for walk around the castle.
After the visit of Rosenburg Castle, it was time for us to go back to the Copenhagen airport and fly back home.
In Overall, Copenhagen is amazing city and its perfect place for 3 days trip!
So, don’t wait for anything and book your flights 🙂
