As you know, we like to discover new places to enjoy our lunches or dinners, and when we went to Barcelona the last time, we discovered this new Japanese restaurant.

To be honest, during our last 3 days visit to Barcelona, we had no intention to discover new places for eating, as after spending 11 years in this amazing city, we already have our favourite places to go to.

Nomatic Life on the Move

However, as a bit of coincidence and through friends, we ended up eating in this new interesting Japanese restaurant Sun Taka. And after the visit, we added this place to our list of restaurants to go next time we are in Barcelona.

We really like this restaurant as the Chef and his team gave us the impression of being great professionals who know what they do (not only with ? sushi) and that behind their dishes are quality products for the enjoyment of good food.

The extra point in favor of this restaurant is that the service was always attentive and friendly.

Menu

The menu has a great variety of Maki, Sashimi, and Niguiris and unlike a normal Japanese bar, Sun Taka offer different options of typical Japanese dishes with a Mediterranean touch. These dishes show that the Chef has an open mind and good taste.

Lunch

We started the lunch with some interesting Calçots (Spring onion) in squid ink tempura with Kimchi sauce. Very good bite, crispy tempura and a dish which use seasonal products in Barcelona. (House invitation).

japanese

As a starter, we ordered some Edamame with an interesting dressing with garlic oil and chilli.

japaneseWe continued with Ibérico Buta Gyoza and Nasu Dengaku, two incredibly delicious bites. The first was exquisite Iberian pork gyoza with vegetables and the second was fried eggplant, with shrimp eel and a basil miso paste that was just delicious!

japaneseThe next dish was Ebi Mayo, Kataifi prawns with a tartar sauce. You can think that this dish is from a classic Japanese bar but the name already warns you that it is not tempura.

japanese

We continued with Iberian Buta No Kakuni, literally translated as square simmered pork. It is a classic dish from a Japanese cookbook, in this case, cooked at a low temperature (imagine) with Iberian pork. We can say that it was one of the best dishes for us, incredibly tasty, with that puree and sauce which made it a delicious dish.

japanese

The next dish was Sushi Moriawase Kiwame, a selection of the Chef with 8 Niguiris and 4 pieces of Maki. With this dish, you can see the ability of the Sushi Chef to treat the product and the quality and taste of the rice.

japaneseBased on the Chef recommendation we also opted in for Niguiris of Eel and Wagyu, Unagi Niguiris and A5 wagyu. The recommendation was great, the eel stood out and the wagyu was delicious.

japanese

To finish our lunch, we ordered a Gyu Katsuretsu, fried Beef sirloin in Panko with tonkatsu sauce and puree. Beef sirloin was perfectly cooked, another amazing dish which we would recommend.

japanese

As a dessert, we ask for green tea ice cream and a Macha tea Mille to finish the meal.

japanese

For drinks, we were invited for a glass of cava and we followed with a classic Japanese beer and a few glasses of wine. If you like Japanese sake, they also have a good selection in the restaurant.
