Of course, the most common answer is fish and chips and classic Irish breakfast with eggs, beans and more.

On the other hand, Ireland also offers high-quality products such as beef, butter, dairy products and seafood (like scallops and crayfish).

Keeping this in mind, you won’t have problems to find great places to eat in Dublin with good quality food.

Lunch/Dinner in Bastible Dublin

During our recent trip to Dublin, we found a perfect place for lunch or dinner with high-quality products and delicious meals.

Bastible Bistro is located in the heart of Dublin 8 and in our opinion it has nothing to envy to other restaurants of the same categories located in popular gastronomic cities.

The name Bastible comes from cast iron pot used for baking in the nineteenth and early twentieth-century Ireland.

On their website, they present Bastible as a restaurant which follows the seasons and works with small producers nearby to always have the best product available.

This is shown in their menu which is very well balanced and tasty. The dishes have a modern touch but the product is always the most important part of the meal.

Bastible offers a single menu which is changed daily and it gives a lot of space and creativity to the Chefs.

The price is unbeatable and it can vary slightly between 32 EUR- 55 EUR (June 2019).

We also would like to highlight the service when we were making a reservation, as they noted our requests and they made sure that all is according to our wishes.

Lunch/Dinner in Bastible Dublin

At the beginning we wanted to go for lunch, however, it was fully booked so we went for dinner.

We started our dinner with some starters accompanied by delicious homemade sourdough bread with butter. The bread was made with mother dough and left to stand for 48h, just amazing.

*****

Starters

Poached oyster, kelp granita & dill

Smoked beetroot & pumpkin seed mole

Mini churros with cheese and grated truffle (it was courtesy of the restaurant as one of us don’t eat beetroot)

Hot chicken & Morita chill

First Course

Broth of tomato, lemon verbena, cockles and beans

Second Course

Knockalara cheese dumplings, Roscoff onion and chamomile. The best dish of the night, delicious gnocchi made from an Irish farm cheese, the sauce was super creamy.

Main Course

Cod, brown shrimp, baby leaf sabayon

Lamb neck & saddle with baked kohlrabi & smoked yoghurt

Dessert

Woodruff cream, blackcurrants and shortbread (Woodruff is a very fragrant plant that you can use differently when it is dry).

We ended up with a petit four of Honeycomb with chocolate (it is the reproduction of a honeycomb made with honey, glucose water and sodium bicarbonate in most cases).

*****

We finished our dinner with cocktails and a bottle of wine to celebrate Michaela’s birthday. As an extra, they gave us an ice cream ball with a candle which was a nice touch.

Conclusion

As we mentioned before, the value for money is unbeatable and we can assure you that it is difficult to find such high quality and tasty dishes for a good price in other European cities.

Where to stay in Dublin

During our weekend trip, we stayed in amazing Guesthouse: Leeson Bridge.

We booked a double room with a sauna and even though we did not have time to use the sauna, it was a big room with a comfortable bed and a great location.

We went to Dublin during the Pride 2019 so it wasn’t easy to find nice accommodation in Dublin, however, Leeson Bridge had it all and it was in a quiet place but not far away from the city centre.

Totally recommended!
