Divoka Sarka, a hidden gem in the northwest of Prague, is popular among local people.  It is a famous spot to go for a walk or run and the perfect stop to relax away from the city and its tourists.

During the summer, you can visit a public swimming pool, which is nicely refreshing. You can also find a pub nearby serving cold beer and Czech pub food, perfect for taking a break.

My favorite is definitely Dyzajn Market where you can both see and buy original artwork and design pieces. You can find not only artwork but you can also eat and drink at the famous street food stands.

Vinohradský Pivovar, a microbrewery located in the Vinohrady district, is popular among locals and one of my favorite non-touristy things to do in Prague.

It is all about quality craft beer. Try their diverse brews, from classic Czech pilsners to innovative creations, and soak up an authentic Prague atmosphere.

This microbrewery is housed in a historic building with a modern twist, and I recommend pairing your beer with delicious Czech cuisine, like svíčková and schnitzel.

Since we started talking about Czech beer and food, I cannot forget Lokál restaurants in Prague. There are few restaurants in the city; however, my favorite one is Lokál at Náměstí Míru (add Google Maps).

This hidden gem is the embodiment of authentic Czech dining and culture, so if you are hunting down secret places in Prague, this is your spot.

Here, you’ll eat traditional Czech cuisine made from local ingredients, wash it down with Pilsner Urquell fresh from the tanks, and experience the real heartbeat of the city. 

I should also mention that they make one of the best fried cheeses (smažák) in Prague since they marinate the cheese before frying, and it’s just delicious.

Malá Strana

When you visit Prague for the first time, I recommend staying in the historic city centre in Malá Strana neighbourhood. This area is excellent if you want to stay for romantic holidays or weekend city break.

You can still walk on the cobblestoned streets and visit Prague Castle and Charles Bridge, both main Prague icons.

Another great neighbourhood where to stay in Prague is Vinohrady. This area is well known for its cafes, pubs, restaurants and green parks.

If you are a beer lover and enjoy going to the pubs and restaurants, Žižkov neighbourhood will be your area. This area is highly visited by locals to have a budget-friendly meal or drinks.
