Srinagarindra Train Night Market

Exploring the hidden gem Srinagarindra Train Night Market in Bangkok is undoubtedly one of the things you should do in this city. This market offers a bit of everything, from a wide variety of Thai street food to local products, unique crafts, and retro and vintage items.

In fact, apart from the classic souvenirs you’ll find everywhere, the peculiarity of this market is its extensive area of vintage and retro clothing stores. We assure you, you’ll find absolutely everything here.

Although you won’t find any trains passing through here, the name “train market” comes from the fact that this market was previously located near the train lines. Open on weekends from late afternoon until midnight, it’s the perfect place to eat some Thai food and buy vintage souvenirs that can be difficult to find in other markets in the city.

Don’t miss the opportunity to explore this exciting off-the-beaten-path destination in Bangkok.

P.S.: Although it’s not a very frequented site for tourists, we recommend you to go early to avoid it filling up with local people searching for a party or some items to buy.

Some additional information:

Location: The market is located in the Phra Khanong area of Bangkok, Thailand.

Opening hours: It opens on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from the afternoon until midnight, typically from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

Activities: Strolling, street food, partying, vintage clothing, retro products.

How to get there: You can reach the market by taxi, tuk-tuk, or using public transportation, such as the BTS Skytrain to Phra Khanong station.

Wat Dhammamongkol temple– Joyas ocultas de Bangkok

Another hidden gem of Bangkok is the Wat Dhammamongkol Temple. This tranquil Buddhist temple offers a refuge of peace amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, making it a true hidden gem in this city.

With its impressive architecture, such as its imposing central tower, its Buddha made of green jade stones, or its serene gardens, it’s the perfect place to find calm and contemplation.

We discovered this temple because our apartment, where we lived for about a month, was nearby in the Punnawithi neighborhood. So, if you’re searching for a quiet place to meditate, immerse yourself in the serenity of Wat Dhammamongkol and let yourself be inspired by the beauty and tranquility of Buddhist culture!

Some additional information:

Location: Wat Dhammamongkol is located in the Bang Khae district, West of Bangkok.

Opening hours: The temple is open every day, from morning until evening.

Activities: Visitors can explore the temple grounds, admire its architecture, and participate in activities such as meditation and offering ceremonies.

How to get there: Wat Dhammamongkol can be reached by taxi, tuk-tuk, or public transportation, such as a bus or BTS Skytrain (Punnawithi stop).

Dress code: It is recommended to dress respectfully, covering shoulders and knees, when visiting the temple.

Bang Nam Phueng (almost) Floating Market

Looking for an authentic yet local experience in Bangkok?

Then don’t miss visiting the hidden gem of the Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market! This place, besides being a market, turns out to be an island within the Chao Phraya River, which runs through the entire city.

Although it’s not exactly a floating market, as the market itself is not in the water (the river is next to it), it’s an incredible feast for the senses. With delicious food and unique local products at more than fair prices, it is the perfect place to try authentic Thai street food.

Open on weekends from morning until evening, it’s a perfect spot if you want to experience something a bit more local and don’t have time to visit other less touristy places in the country. Situated not exactly in the center but on an island, it’s the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok.

Some additional information:

Location: The Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market is located in the Phra Pradaeng district, in Bangkok, Thailand.

Opening hours: The market is open on weekends, usually Saturdays and Sundays, from morning until evening, approximately from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Activities: local market, street food, biking around the island.

How to get there: You can reach the market by taxi, tuk-tuk, or using public transportation. A popular and probably the most economical option is this: Take the BTS until Bang Na station, then take a moto-taxi or a regular taxi to the Bang Nam Phueng pier, and then take a short boat ride to the floating market.
