This time, we are heading to Mexico because it is time for me to share what I believe are the best burgers in CDMX, or for those unfamiliar, Mexico City.
Don’t worry, I am not here to be a rebel. During my stay in the city with Mika, and in Mexico in general, we ate a lot of amazing Mexican food. Still, between tacos, tortas, tamales, and panuchos, we decided to try out plenty of burgers too.
Let me tell you something personal. In Mexico, I found a great burger quality that I would say is in second place after the burgers in the United States.
Of course, they are not amazing burgers everywhere. That is exactly why I created this article: to recommend the best burger places in CDMX.

LA SOCIEDAD MEXICANA DE HAMBURGUESAS
A friend of mine, a local chef, told me, “You have to try this burger that went viral on social media; it is absolutely amazing.” So I did. And it earned its place on this personal burger list.
The stand I visited is located in Roma Norte, right in the center. They also have two other locations in Roma Sur and Polanco. Just search on Google Maps for “La Sociedad Smash Burgers.”
After trying their burgers myself, I can say that they serve a great quality burger, and I am not surprised at all by their popularity on social media. Moreover, consider where they prepare them, since it is a small street stand.
The menu is short, but just enough to choose from. They offer around four or five smash-style burgers with different ingredients, which make a great burger.
If I had to mention one downside, and this is a personal opinion, it would be the amount of butter they use to toast the bun. It can be a bit too much.
Other than that, I definitely recommend checking out their burger stands and letting me know what you think.
LA BURGUESA
A gourmet burger spot in CDMX that has been around for a few years now. Their ingredients are well prepared and carefully chosen to please even the most demanding palates. It reminded me exactly why I love burgers so much.
The lucky part was that it happened to be right on the corner from the small stand I mentioned earlier, which made it almost impossible for me not to try it.
Let me get straight to the point. I ordered a burger to go since I had just eaten, but I ended up with something incredibly delicious that made me want to come back and try their entire menu.
It was juicy, with soft bread and sauces that enhance the flavor instead of covering up a lack of taste, which happens far too often.
Definitely a perfect bite for lovers of gourmet burgers and good food in general.
They offer different types of meat as well as vegetarian options, so if you are in the area, don’t hesitate to give them a try.

CHICAGO BERNIE’S BEEF BIKE
This burger place is considered by many Mexican foodies to be the best spot for burgers in Mexico City.
Even though I’m not a fan of declaring anything as “the best of the best,” because a lot depends on social media hype and personal taste, I can’t deny that these burgers deserve to be at the top of any list. That’s why they’re here in this article, too.
The story goes that the project started with a burger enthusiast (just like you and me), originally from Chicago, who wanted to bring authentic American flavor to the city he lived in.
His first sales were done from a bicycle, which is where the name comes from, riding around the streets and serving burgers to his first customers.
Today, they have two locations in the city, and they serve some of the best smash burgers I have ever tasted. Their menu also includes other classic American-style sandwiches.
The smash burger I tried might seem simple in its ingredients, but it was perfectly done, super tasty, very juicy, and had that great meaty flavor you expect from an American-style burger.
If you’re a fan of smash burgers, this could be your next go-to spot in Mexico City.

SECRET BURGER
Who would have thought that I would eat one of the best burgers in CDMX in a hidden spot, a speakeasy, in the Narvarte neighborhood?
Yes, just like the name suggests, “Secret” means it is a secret restaurant tucked inside a charming patio within a house, designed to serve excellent food and top-quality service.
In recent years, speakeasies have become very trendy, especially for cocktails and parties.
Being in a hidden location makes the whole experience feel more exciting.
But when it comes to food, especially in big cities like this, the concept has to be managed carefully through social media or word of mouth. And I would say that Secret Burger has done it just right.
Simply by being a hidden spot, it is already considered one of the best burger places in the city, and I can fully confirm that. I honestly couldn’t find a single flaw in what they served.
Homemade bread, which they were literally baking while we were eating. The flavor of the meat was outstanding, and cooked exactly how we ordered it.
And tell me, doesn’t it make you want to go? Even though you now know this place exists, you still don’t know where it is. Go search for it, because this is a secret worth sharing.

This wraps up my post about the best burgers I’ve had in Mexico City. During a couple of weeks in the city, I tried a few more, but these four that I listed here are, in my personal opinion, the very best.
What I love is that each one offers something different. Two are smash-style burgers, and the other two are gourmet burgers, but they all have something special that makes them stand out.
