Part 1

I visit Sardinia every year since my partner is from the South of Sardinia and we go to visit his family. During the last 8 years, we explored almost whole Sardinia and I personally call it – The Caribbean Island in Europe. I love to come back to Sardinia every year as each part of the island is a bit different.

For me, it has everything! Beach, Food, Nature and People.

When you go to the beach in the North and then to the South of Sardinia, you will realize that they are not the same. Different colours of the sand, different nature and also food specialities for each area.

As there is a lot to say about Sardinia, I will divide this article in 2 different parts and during the upcoming weeks, I will post all the parts we visited during the years. We will start with the South of Sardinia.

South of Sardinia

The best and fastest way to arrive is by plane as there is the Airport in Cagliari city. Based on our experience, I would recommend you to rent a car as there is not much public transport and it is not reliable at all.

We always rent a car at the airport using Auto Europe. They offer great search engine where you can compare different companies so you can choose the best deal for your stay. The rule is: If you rent your car for more days (one week), it will be cheaper than for just a couple of days.

barcelona placesWe definitely recommend taking full insurance as some roads to the beach are quite bumpy.

When you get your car, there are a few ways you can take. Both East and West of Cagliari you will find beautiful beaches, such as Chia and Santa Margherita di Pula , Villasimius and Costa Rei (South West)

I would highlight a few beaches, which for us are the BEST in the South (South West).

sardinia beach

Spiaggia di Piscina (South West)

This beach offers golden sand with dunes, its relatively long beach so even with many people it does not feel crowded. There is parking for 5 EUR/day and also two bars where you can get nice drinks or aperitivo.

Spiaggia di Piscinas

Spiaggia di Funtanazza (South West)

A small paradise is hidden from the tourists. There are no bars or toilet, parking is free so make sure you bring your own food and drinks.

Spiaggia di Funtanazza

Spiaggia di Punta Molentis (Villasimius) – South

This beach is special as it has the sea on both sides. There is paid parking approx 10e/day and a few bars/restaurants around. Its great beach for long walks.

Spiaggia della Baia di China (South)

All the beaches in this area are amazing, so you can’t make mistake. There are popular beaches like Spiaggia di Chia, Cala Cipolla, Su Giudeu and Spiaggia de su Sali.

So, just choose one (or all:)) and go to enjoy it!

Overall, there are many other beaches which we did not mention here, but these are our TOP  beaches on the South of Sardinia (South West).

If you like other beaches in this area, feel free to comment or contact us.

This was Part 1 of the 2 parts series about beaches in Sardinia.

Next week, we will post Part 2 about East of Sardinia. Follow us to not miss the article😜.
