Christmas is coming and Christmas markets are always part of this amazing time.
I love Christmas, it’s a special time for me to be with my family.
As we live in different countries, it’s a unique moment to be all together.
As I love Christmas, I also love Christmas markets. How the cities change into the Christmas atmosphere and how the lights bring the unique Christmas vibe.
I am from Prague and going to see the Christmas market was always part of our family tradition. For this reason, I decided to share with you more about the best Christmas markets in Europe.
1. Prague (Czech Republic)
I have to start with Prague since I was born in this amazing city and the Christmas market in Prague is my favourite. The market is placed in the city centre at the Old Town square and Wenceslas square. Both of the squares have huge Christmas trees in the middle and they are surrounded by the market. At the Christmas market, you can find Christmas decorations, food and drinks like mulled wine. It has a unique atmosphere and it will be always number one for me.
2. Vienna (Austria)
The Christmas market in Vienna has a long tradition and is placed in front of the City Hall. You can find a Christmas tree in the middle of the square with great charm and aroma from candles, hot drinks or food. If you come with children, inside of the City Hall there is the place where they can make candles and cookies. During the weekend, you can also listen to choirs singing Christmas carols.
3. Dresden (Germany)
The Dresden Striezelmarkt is the oldest Christmas market in Germany. The market is placed on the Prager Straße in the city centre. Dresen Christmas market is also known as “Winterlights of Dresden” as it has a lot to offer. Live music at night, many stands with regional specialities from Dresden served with famous mulled wine.
4. Düsseldorf (Germany)
Christmas market in Düsseldorf consists of seven different themed markets placed in the city centre in walking distance from one market to another. You will find Christmas music, handcraft decorations, and food and drink specialities. You can also find Ice ring at CorneliusPlatz.
5. Nuremberg (Germany)
The Nuremberg CHRISTKINDLESMARKT offers more than 180 market stands all decorated the same way with a lot of lights. You can find here traditional Christmas ornaments and regional delicatessens like mulled wine, rum punch, Nuremberg bratwurst, and gingerbread. It is beautiful at night and it will definitely bring you the Christmas spirit if you don’t have it already.
There are many other markets around the world, however, for me, these are the 5 Best Christmas markets in Europe.
