5 Best Pad Thai in Bangkok

5 Best Pad Thai in Bangkok you should try (we did)

Writing about the best Pad Thai in Bangkok is a bit like writing about the best pizzas in Naples, a very difficult task! Wherever you walk in Bangkok, you’ll find stalls offering this Thai dish beloved by tourists and also locals.

So, you might be wondering, why are we writing this post? Well, there are several motivations that led us to write this post about the 5 Best Pad Thai in Bangkok. The first is that finding good Pad Thai in a city like Bangkok is far from simple; everyone makes it, but very few do it well.

Our second reason is connected to the first; we were tired of eating this poorly made dish. In some places Pad Thai is very sweet almost as jam and it is really not the traditional Thai dish you want.

The third reason may seem trivial, but it’s true; we did it for you, dear reader. After reading this entire post about the best Pad Thai in Bangkok, you won’t have to look any further.

Last year we were in Bangkok 4 times, and one of those times we stayed in the city for over a month. Call us crazy, but we tried, on average, 1 Pad Thai per day at different places (Mika was tired of eating Pad Thai). Despite that, we have our list (which is now also yours) of the best places to eat a good Pad Thai in the city. So, read on and enjoy.

PS: At all the places, we ate at least one Pad Thai with egg, without proteins, so that the ranking could be as balanced as possible.

Whether we go, to the beach or to the mountains, on a day trip or for several months, we always carry this incredible product with us.

The portable water filter is an essential product on our trips, as it is sustainable, useful and super small, a real joy. Click here for more information!

1. PAD THAI MAE AM – Best Pad Thai in Bangkok

Undoubtedly one of the best Pad Thai in Bangkok and, if we remember correctly, it was the cheapest one we had.

Although it’s not in the most crowded areas of the city, at least for the average tourist, we recommend you to plan a visit,  because then you can say you’ve tried a good quality Pad Thai.

The lady who runs it prepares only two dishes in her restaurant, and one of them is exactly this delicious Pad Thai.

In my personal opinion, it was perfectly prepared and balanced, it didn’t need anything else; a true delight for the palate.

In a nutshell: What you’re looking for, you just found it.

2. PAD THAI FAT TA LU-Best Pad Thai in Bangkok

A stone’s throw from the famous and crowded Khao San Road is this restaurant that offers an incredible Pad Thai created by the skilled hands of renowned Chef Andy Yang.

His creations are the true proof that even a simple dish like Pad Thai can be a gastronomic dish, well presented and super tasty.

The ingredients used are of high quality, and that is also reflected in the price. Still, I think it’s worth stopping by this place and trying this Pad Thai in Bangkok, especially if you’re a novice.

In addition to being recognized by the Michelin Guide (Bib Gourmand), it’s very popular among Western tourists, and one of the reasons I’ve deduced after my experience is that it had fewer sweet nuances than all the ones I’ve tried this month in the Thai capital.

In a nutshell: The tourist favorite.

 3. THIPSAMAI – Best Pad Thai in Bangkok

Many define it as the Mecca of Pad Thai in Thailand, and might ask, is it really that good? Yes, my friend, this Pad Thai is one of the best you can find in Bangkok, and although it’s very famous among tourists and there’s sometimes a long line to eat it, we recommend you try it.

The main branch is located in the old Phra Nakorn district, although you can find other franchises throughout the city.

Although, as already mentioned, we tried the classic, rich, and well-balanced one, this restaurant is famous for creating Pad Thai with shrimp oil that you absolutely must try.

In a nutshell: The Pad Thai that everyone loves.

4. MAE THUM PAD THAI – Best Pad Thai in Bangkok

Walking the streets of Bangkok, very close to the acclaimed Thipsamai, we randomly found this restaurant “Mae Thum Pad Thai,” and since our goal was to find good Pad Thai, we decided to stop and try it.

No decision was more accurate, as you can see, it has rightfully entered our list of the best Pad Thai in Bangkok.

The place itself is very nice and cozy; still, the good comes when you put the noodles in your mouth for the first time, a real bomb for your palate; the explosion of flavors is so great that all you want to do is keep eating this delight.

I still remember my face of happiness when I randomly found a treasure, a Pad Thai treasure! I don’t know why, but this neighborhood is where the best Pad Thai in the city is concentrated, according to us.

In a nutshell: Pad Thai is also eaten with the eyes.

5. PAD THAI HOYTOD 101  -Best Pad Thai in Bangkok

Due to the proximity to our temporary home in Bangkok, it was the Pad Thai that we ate the most in the whole month, not only because it was close, but because it was a real delight.

This street stall is one of the few Pad Thai that, even having sweet nuances, we liked it.

It was well-balanced with the rest of the ingredients and didn’t overshadow the rest.

You can’t imagine the number of locals who stop here every day to eat Pad Thai and fried mussels (another dish you should try), a sign that things in this place are done well. Although it’s not in the city center, it’s worth going to the Punawatti stop to try this tasty Pad Thai.

In a nutshell: Follow the line, and you succeed.
