But beyond Prague, there are many things to do in Czech republic and you don’t have to travel far from the capital.
One of the amazing places in Czech republic is Pruhonicky park and Castle. This park should definitely be in your travel itinerary for a perfect day trip from Prague.

Pruhonicky Park and Castle – day trip from Prague
Pruhonicky Park with its Castle is one of the most beautiful places in the Czech Republic and I would really recommend this place if you want to escape from the busy capital.
The park itself is huge with more than 250 hectares and it was founded in the year 1885. You can find here a unique collection of about 1,600 species of local and exotic plants.
The park itself is the most significant landscape element southeast of Prague and it was declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site and Czech National Historic Landmark.

When you enter the Pruhonicky Park you will immediately see stunning Pruhonicky Castle.
The contemporary shape of the Castle is a result of various reconstructions of the small medieval Gothic castle and the current appearance dates back to the late 19th century.
Unfortunately, the Pruhonicky Castle is not opened for public however you can visit the exhibition area on the ground floor of the Great Castle.

How to get to Pruhonicky Park
Pruhonicky Park with its Castle is located near Prague which makes it a perfect spot for a day trip.
By Car
The easiest way to travel to the park is by car. From the city centre, it takes about 15min depending on your exact location and traffic.
Drive on highway D1 and turn to exit 6 Pruhonice, in a few minutes you will get to the Pruhonice village and you can just follow the signs.
If you don’t have access to a car, there is always a possibility to rent a car and discover more things to do in the Czech Republic.
When you are coming by car, be aware there you need to pay for parking. The car parking in front of the park is 30 CZK/per hour so before you leave you will need to pay the amount in the payment machine.
It really depends on how long you are going to stay in the park, but if you don’t have the whole day, you can also come here for a half-day trip.
By Public Transport
Getting there by public transport is also an option and it is quite easy.
Simple make your way to Opatov Metro Station (C line) and then take a bus 363 or 385 and get off at Pruhonice station. The bus should take about 15min.

I recommend buying entrance tickets online so you can avoid the line.
The ticket is valid for 10 days from purchase date.

Park Trails in Pruhonicky Park
There are 3 different trail routes that you can take through the park, depending on how much time you have to spare.
This trail is perfect for a half-day trip from Prague or for people who are not ready to walk a long distance.
The route starts at the Pruhonicky Castle and continues around the Podzámecký pond, the Alpine garden, through the meadows, and you finish the trail back at the castle.
Ideally, you visit this park during April and May as you will be able to see the rhododendrons blossoming, it is really extraordinary view!
Main Tour Route: 3–4 hours, 5 kilometres (Yellow Trail)
When we visited this amazing place, we decided for Yellow trail as we wanted to explore the parks main attractions like Labeška pond or typical Czech Cottage.
I would say that it took us around 5-6 hours as we decided to have a picnic in the middle of the route. We also walked a part of the Red Trail so you can easily mix all three routes together to see the highlights of the park.
Main Tour Route: 5–6 hours, 10 kilometres (Red Trail)
This is the longest trail and you will need a whole day to explore the park. The trail starts at the castle, continues to pond and it passes all the viewpoints in the park.
You can see on the map that the Yellow and Red trail go together until a certain point so you can decide later on if you want to continue on the red route.
What to eat and drink in Pruhonicky Park
The park is huge however you have only a few options for refreshment.
When you enter the park and you walk towards the Castle courtyard, you get in front of Coffee59 Brunch.
It is a perfect place to relax and have a coffee or sandwich. Be aware that this is the only place where you can eat or drink inside the park.
Pruhonicky park is a perfect place for a day trip from Prague and a great place to have a picnic. We prepared all delicatessen and had lunch in the middle of the park, it was super relaxing.
Before you walk inside of the park you have various options to have lunch or dinner.
We can recommend Cukrarna Paloma with amazing cakes and pastries.
Where to stay in Pruhonice– day trip from Prague
There is always a possibility to stay in Pruhonice village to enjoy a nice and romantic weekend.
Park Hotel Pruhonice is located about 500min from the Park entrance and you can taste some traditional Czech cuisine in their restaurant. The price for the double room included breakfast starts at 65 USD (58 EUR) per night.
If you are looking for something more romantic than I recommend Babiccina zahrada pension and restaurant. You can easily Relax here with massage or meditation session. The price for the double room included breakfast starts at 80 USD(75 EUR).
